This mill was based on the principle of the impact mill. It’s purpose is to grind very small amounts of a substance for analytical purposes. With the grinding chamber closing dust proof and the collecting tubes airtight, the loss of grist is almost non existent. 

Generally speaking, everything that is breakable, dry and not containing extra fat, for example dried fruits, grains, corn, malt, pectin, raw and burned coffee, roots, leaves, straw, hey, wood, nutshells, wool, cotton, linen etc. can be milled.
